How do I use the text-to-speech feature?
The text-to-speech feature allows you to listen to Nikkei Asia articles in AI-generated audio.
How to listen
Mobile App:
Log in to your account.
On an article page: Tap the ‘Listen’ button located above the article text to start playback.
On the home page or article list pages: Tap the headphone icon near the article title to start playback.
Web:
Log in to your account.
The text-to-speech feature is available only on article pages. Tap the ‘Listen’ button located above the article text to start playback.
Notes
The text-to-speech feature is available exclusively to Nikkei Asia paid subscribers.
For some articles, audio generation may take time. After pressing the translation button, please wait for a moment.
The text-to-speech feature uses third-party AI tools. For details, please refer to Nikkei Asia's AI policy.
Troubleshooting
If the audio fails to load, please wait a little while and then tap the reload button in the player on the app, or click the ‘Listen’ button again on the web.
Make sure your device volume is not muted.
Check that you have an active internet connection.
